Just Like the lack of atheism in foxholes, there are no atheists in a storm at sea.

Call me preachy if you want, but this book of sermons directed towards sailors is a wonderful Christian read whether or not you're religeous.   The insightful and colorful marine vernacular and metaphor is eye opening and pleasing.

Do as you will, but personally I wouldn't desire to go through life without the opportunity to read this book.  At 160 years old it still speaks peace to the common man, reaching to the very core of who we are.

You might say it's a different form of Celestial Navigation.

I read a few paragraphs on a random page, was quite shaken, and said to myself, "I've got to get this book!"

Found it on Ebay, 1851 edition, a little worn, for $20.09 total.

You are right- there are no atheists in a storm.  I'm sure we all have stories to tell that would demonstrate that both on land and sea.  I've never been so terrified as when solo sailing, at night, in a storm.  So here's to Him who calms the raging sea!

My computer is pretty old so the book is slow loading...but...I ran an optimizer on it which made it much bigger but faster loading and thus easier to read.

Excellent reading....and quite humbling.
