Sun sights during cloudy weather

How cloudy of a day has it been when you made a successful shot of the Sun?

Is there and infrared detecting sextant?

There sort of is but not for us ordinary people;

Optical Celestial Navigation System

"Can't be jammed"...."does not give off any signals"

My guess is the ultimate navigation system will not be GPS but inertial combined with celestial.
